Lake Mokoan is situated on the outskirts of northern
Victoria's high country. It is nestled between Benalla
and Wangaratta in close proximity to the Warby Ranges,
Reef Hills and Mount Samaria State Parks.
The area is the gateway to a setting of stunning mountains
and waterways. The region provides a rich heritage and
inspiring atmosphere for enjoying the outdoors.
A number of walking tracks can be found within the Warby
Ranges with breathtaking viewing points, birdlife and
wildflowers. Waterfalls can also be seen during winter.
The Rural City of Wangaratta is best known for its historic
buildings and riverside parklands. It has great access
to local wineries, gourmet food and many historic towns
within the region including Oxley, Milawa and Whitfield.
Benalla's historic Botanic and Rose garden near the Broken
River and the Regional Art Gallery are both tranquil places
to visit. Benalla has a warm country town atmosphere.
It is located close to Glenrowan, a popular spot for those
following the infamous Ned Kelly trail. There are several
excellent places to eat including restaurants and bakeries.
